Gold Diamond Polki Jewellery

(गोल्ड डायमंड पोल्की ज्वेलरी)

Gold diamond polki jewellery is natural diamond that never went to the cutting wheel — split on the planes the stone already grew with, and held in gold by a collar of 24K kundan foil. We set it in 18K and 22K gold: the polki ponchi on the wrist and the polki hasli at the collarbone, the two Rajputi pieces this house is known for, with the polki kada beside them. Each piece is made to order, and the price breakup is shared on WhatsApp.

The stone

What makes it gold diamond polki jewellery

Gold diamond polki jewellery is jewellery set with polki — natural diamond left uncut. The stone is split along the planes it already grew with and lightly polished, never faceted, so it holds a soft, even light instead of throwing sparks. It is held by a collar of 24K kundan foil rather than by prongs. We set ours by hand in 18K and 22K gold, in Jaipur.

Polki beside kundan, and polki beside a cut diamond, are explained in our polki jewellery guide and in the difference between polki and kundan. Every piece here is made at our own bench in Johari Bazar.

Polki reads as a soft, flat light. A cut diamond returns a point of it.

The house pieces

Ponchi and hasli, in polki

The two pieces people know us for — one on the wrist, one at the collarbone.

Ponchiपौंची

The Rajputi wrist ornament, worn as a pair: each stone set in kundan, then the pieces strung together. We make it in polki and in navratna.

Gold ponchi

Hasliहसली

The rigid collar that rests on the collarbone and keeps its own shape. Paved in polki it runs as one continuous turn, a pearl set in every chaand.

Before you buy

Five things to check on a polki piece

The same five wherever you buy it. Ask them at our counter too.

  • The carat weight of the polki

Polki is priced per carat, on top of the gold and the making. Ask for the total carat weight as its own line on the bill rather than folded into one figure.

  • A report that stays with the piece

Our polki leaves with its IGI or GIA report, and the report belongs to the piece. For a second opinion, Jaipur has its own gem testing laboratory.

  • The gold, not only the stone

Hallmarked gold carries the BIS mark and a six-digit HUID. Ours is stamped 18K or 22K before it leaves the bench.

  • What is holding the stone

In jadai the stone is pressed into a bed of lac and collared in 24K foil — no prongs anywhere. The lac is never counted in the gold weight we quote.

  • The buyback, in writing

Gold always has a resale value. What happens to the diamonds on an exchange is each jeweller's own policy, so have it written down on the day you buy.

Through the year

Where Rajputi jewellery is worn after the wedding

A polki set is bought for one day and worn for twenty years. For every Rajputi ornament, head to waist, see our Rajasthani jewellery names guide — or, for the piece at the parting, the borla.

Gangaur

In spring, women across Rajasthan dress for Gangaur, the festival of Gauri — the borla, the hasli and the ponchi come out of the box.

Teej

At Teej, in the monsoon, married women dress in green and lehariya, and the bride of the year wears her wedding jewellery again.

Family weddings

At the weddings that follow her own, the set comes out again — often just the hasli and ponchi, the lighter pieces, as in many Rajput families.

Ghoomar nights

For the ghoomar, danced in a full ghagra, pieces that stay put matter: a ponchi strung close to the wrist and a hasli that holds its shape.

Questions

Polki questions

Ask a question

Does a polki piece come with a diamond report?

Yes. The polki we set is natural diamond, and the piece leaves with its IGI or GIA report — the report stays with the piece, and the carat weight on it is the one written on your bill.

Can I have a polki piece made to my own design?

Yes. We are the makers, so the drawing, the size of the stones, the meena colours behind and the weight of gold are all yours to set. Bring a photograph or a sketch — most pieces take 15 to 20 days once the design is settled.

Which polki piece should a bride start with?

The one she will wear again. A polki hasli sits at the collarbone with almost anything; a pair of polki ponchi is the lightest way in; a polki kada is one bold band and needs nothing beside it.

Will the gold and the polki be priced separately?

Yes. The quote comes in parts — the gold at the day's rate and its weight, the polki by carat, the other stones, and the making. You can read what each part costs, and compare it with anyone else's.
