A navratna necklace set carries the nine planetary stones round the neck, the ruby at the centre, with matching earrings. Ours are made in 18K gold with natural stones, each cut to fit its place in the design.
Three ways to wear the nine
Navratna haar, mala or pendant set?
Navratna haarनवरत्न हार
A full necklace with the nine stones arranged across its width — the grandest of the three.
Usually bridal, and drawn with earrings to match.
Navratna malaनवरत्न माला
A string of beads in the nine stones, worn long — by men as often as by women.
Light, and the closest to how the stones were first worn.
Navratna pendant set
One pendant with the nine stones in their circle, on a chain, with small earrings beside it.
The easiest way to wear navratna every day.
The stones
How the nine stones are sized across a navratna haar
Cut to the drawing
Our karigars cut each natural stone to the space it fills in the design, so the nine are not one size — a broad haar takes larger stones at its centre than at its sides.
Weighed in carats
Every stone is weighed in carats, not ratti, and its lab report comes with the set. Reading an astrologer's ratti weight? Use our carat to ratti calculator.
Repeated, not just nine
A haar often repeats the nine-stone group along its length, each repeat in the same order, so the necklace reads correctly from any point.
What can be made to match a navratna necklace?
Earrings first — drawn with the necklace, the nine stones in the same order — then a maang tikka or borla, and a navratna ponchi for the wrists. Each is made in the same 18K gold and the same work, so the set reads as one.
Where does the ruby sit in a navratna necklace?
At the centre of the design, always: in the navaratna arrangement the Sun's stone holds the middle, and the other eight keep their places around it.
Do all nine stones in a navratna haar have to be the same size?
No. Each is cut to the space it fills, so a large central ruby can sit among smaller stones; what stays fixed is the order. The carat weight of every stone is on its lab report.
Can a navratna mala be strung with pearls between the stones?
Yes — pearls or small gold beads between the nine lengthen the mala and soften it. The pearl that is one of the nine keeps its place in the order; the spacers are extra.
